We are the entity responsible for processing your personal data, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – EU Regulation 2016/679) and Law No. 58/2019 (Portuguese Data Protection Law).
What Data We Collect and Why
We only collect what is necessary to provide you with a good service.
When you request a quote: Name, email, phone number, origin and destination address, approximate volume of the move. We use this data exclusively to prepare and send your proposal. Legal basis: performance of contract and consent.
When you send a message: Name, email and the content of your message. We use this to respond to your enquiry. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
When you subscribe to our newsletter: Your email only. We use it to send information and promotions from Translowcost. You can unsubscribe at any time. Legal basis: consent.
When you browse our website: With your consent, we use analytics tools (Google Analytics) to understand how the site is used and improve it. We may also use marketing cookies (Google Ads, Meta Pixel) to show relevant ads. Without your consent, these tools are not activated. Legal basis: consent.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We do not keep data longer than necessary:
Advertising data (Google Ads, Meta): 90 days
Quote requests: 3 years (legal statute of limitations for commercial obligations)
Contact messages: 6 months after resolution
Newsletter: until you cancel your subscription
Analytics data: 26 months (Google Analytics configuration)
Who We Share Data With
We never sell your data. Full stop.
We share only with:
- Google LLC — Analytics and advertising campaigns (under EU-approved Standard Contractual Clauses)
- Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd — campaigns on Facebook and Instagram
- IT service providers — website hosting and maintenance, under confidentiality agreement
- Competent authorities — only when required by law
Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
Access the data we hold about you — you can request a copy from us at any time.
Rectify incorrect or outdated data.
Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”), except where the law requires us to retain it.
Restrict processing — for example, while a complaint is under review.
Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
Object to processing for direct marketing purposes, at any time and without justification.
Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal.

Security
Our website uses a secure HTTPS connection (SSL certificate). Access to personal data is restricted to staff who need it for their work. We perform regular backups and keep our systems up to date.
No system is 100% foolproof, but we do everything within our power to protect your information.

International Transfers
Some of our providers (Google, Meta) process data outside the European Union, namely in the USA.
